As you may have already gathered, I have been a player at Paddy Power Casino for a fair few years now and I'll admit it up-front: I'm a fan. I've always liked their quirky marketing and stuff too even if they do sail a bit close to the wind sometimes but overall, the sense of humour reflects the fact they are people-oriented unlike many casinos online I have played! They may not quite have the personal service that you get from small independents like 32Red casino but they are better than most of the big guns.
The overall Paddy Power online product suite contains a Playtech download casino, Instant Play games site with Playtech and IGT games (along with several games from other providers), a poker room, sportsbook, lottery and bingo plus a live dealer casino (check out the article on live casinos for more detail and comparisons). Not to forget the mobile options for sports and casino too!
So having explained (hopefully!) why I think Paddy Power justifies it's position as one of my top casinos, you're probably expecting me to now bang on about how they are best at everything, right? Well actually, that's not quite the case so I'll get some of the issues I encountered out the way first. For the record, I first reviewed Paddy Power casino in 2011 for my UK Casinos website and the same, albeit minor-ish, issues still existed when I did this review in Q3, 2012.
The two things I'm not so keen on are the layout of the Games site and the lack of bonuses. The latter isn't so uncommon for "bookmaker" casinos - Ladbrokes are pretty much the same as you'll see from my Laddies review - but I found that unless I proved I was a high-roller, I received few freebies. Some good promotions - but no freebies other than the odd 10 dumped in my account. Personaly for me, the fast cashouts and lack of reverse pending time more than made up for that but not everyone will agree.
I deal with the games site layout in more detail on my Paddy Power Games review so I won't go into the details here but as far as the casino itself is concerned, there is no need to be worried quite honestly. The Playtech software that powers the download is very intuitive and the volume of games on the no-download version doesn't (yet!) cause too much clutterness although it probably could benefit from a "Favourites" system of some sort.
Anyway, those two quibbles aside, it's hard to fault Paddy Power casino to be totally honest. I've already alluded to the fast cashouts (2/3 nights into a UK bank account) and the fact that once you've requested a cashout, you can't touch ("reverse") the money and lose it like some other casinos mentioned in my casino reviews.I hate it when a casino let's you reverse a cashout personally but there you go. Thankfully Paddy Power doesn't.
As for the games, they are all provided by Playtech in the casino whereas on the Games site you also get some from IGT, Net Entertainment and a range of smaller slot developers. Some of the IGT games, like Cleopatra, Pharaohs Fortune & Rainbow Riches will be well known to slot players I'm sure and are available both here and at another previous haunt of mine, BetVictor (check out my BetVictor Casino review for more details).
Those who like cards and roulette should really opt for the Playtech-powered download casino - Playtech do some excellent games in that department and video poker too if you like that sort of thing. The Playtech slots in the download are also good but you won't find the land-based games in the software - those are only available on the website (and are played via your browser) in the Games section.
Overall you probably sussed by now that I think Paddy Power have done a very good job on the casino. There's always room for improvement (poor bonusing and no Novomatic Gaminator slots for example) but it's one of the better casinos on the web in my opinion.
